Felix Maus: A Memoir of Love, Community, Healing (and a Fall from a Tree) is the story of my son Felix and our family as we endured a grave crisis together.

I compiled real-time accounts i wrote from the hospital with reflections in the months following the fall. This story gives a good glimpse of a life in crisis from the inside, and my desire to remain grounded throughout.

hi
this is this.

Our Adoption Story

Keeping open to the idea of raising more children led me naturally to consider adoption. Seeds for this had been planted many years before when my dear friend Glenn had mentioned that if each of us just would look after one other person who was in need, a homeless person or a child needing a home, the problem would be solved. I could never let go of that.

Adoption and Foster Parenting

When my wife and i were first dating, the subject of kids came up. She was OK with 2 or maybe 3; i quite sincerely told her i hoped to parent (or did i say "father") 13. She thought i was kidding, but deep down i knew i wasn't.

When i think of adoption and foster parenting, diverse threads weave themselves together in my mind:

  • Special Needs Adoption
  • Youth in Foster Care
  • Overseas Adoption
